As computing becomes more ubiquitous in our objects, designers need to be more aware of how to design meaningful interactions into electronically enhanced objects. At the University of Washington, a class of junior Interaction Design majors is exploring this question. These pages chronicle their efforts.

Sheema & Claire: Process Report -- Shooting the video

The first step in creating our video was to move the tilting bed we built into an apartment near campus, which was way heavier then we imagined!

Process Images
Above is an image of us setting up the components of our bed in the apartment.

Here is the first video we took of our bed working in a room. After getting it into the apartment we took our time setting up the scene that would showcase our design. We knew we wanted to bed to be the main focus of the shot and that the tilting of the bed was really important to emphasize when shooting.

Our first attempt at setting up the scene to see how the bed would look with sheets and comforter on it. We are both surprised with how normal and realistic it looked. Other then the wires and arduino and relay hanging off the end of the bed no one could guess this wasn't your normal bed.

After testing out multiple colors, we decided on red to draw the attention of the viewers to the bed, which is what our main focus was.

Above are some images of our "studio" set up. It took a lot of work to get our lighting to be realistic and consistent. It was funny to see how our the room in our scene was so clean, while less then three feet away all our electronics and supplies were set up.

Stay tuned for our last blog post to see our final video!!
