As computing becomes more ubiquitous in our objects, designers need to be more aware of how to design meaningful interactions into electronically enhanced objects. At the University of Washington, a class of junior Interaction Design majors is exploring this question. These pages chronicle their efforts.

Epic Creeper Cam Birdhouse

We wanted to make sure that the camera was safe if we were going to be leaving it out to face the elements. But we also wanted to make sure that it was going to be stealthy enough to not freak out the hummies. So we decieded that making a birdhouse would be the best way to go about it. Once we decided that, we had to figure out how we were going to best fit all the stuff inside, and hopefully make it look nice enough to not be TOO weird...

First we made a really rough cardboard version to make sure the measurements were right:



Using these measurements, me made some adjustments to make a template for a nicer foam-core





After that - Amy's hubby Nick helped us out with some of the heavy machinery to build the house out of wood, and make a super nice finished product!
